Pastoralist Peoples’ Initiative (PPI) convened Laisamis Sub-County Women Caucus dialogue focusing on land, peace, and social cohesion. The forum brought together women leaders and community representatives to discuss issues affecting land governance, conflict resolution, and peaceful coexistence within pastoralist communities.
The dialogue provided a safe and inclusive space for women to share experiences related to land disputes, boundary challenges, and their role in promoting peace. Participants highlighted the importance of women’s participation in decision-making processes and the need to strengthen community-led peace initiatives.
Through open discussions, the caucus identified key challenges affecting women, including access to land, insecurity and inter-community conflicts. The participants emphasized collaboration, dialogue, and respect for customary land systems as key pathways toward sustainable peace and social cohesion.
Pastoralist Peoples’ Initiative remains committed to supporting women-led platforms that promote peaceful coexistence, equitable land governance, and resilient pastoralist communities.
